Picture this.

While walking across campus this morning, I noticed once more that UT only seems to take care of appearances when parents or making first impressions are involved. Every time new student orientation or parents weekend rolls around, the campus practically receives new landscaping and a fresh coat of paint. The first session of orientation starts next week. Surprise, surprise! We have new grass, flowers, a sprinkling of new trees, freshly painted lines on the roads, freshly paved roads, and much more. Oh yeah! The fountains are actually clean and operating! Typically, they are turned off, drained, and operate only as monumental lawn ornaments. The excuse that is offered during the semesters is that UT is trying to conserve water. Sure. Don't make me pay to operate the fountains and then turn them off while I'm actually on campus! That issue aside, campus really does look lovely. Feel free to enjoy the following complimentary photo:
