My friend Chelsea came into town to hang out with Hanna and I. We decided to have a nice picnic out under the warm sun at Butler Park. The park is just south of downtown and right next to the river. It was so beautiful outside and we couldn't pass up the good weather. We had cheeses, cold cuts, bread, crackers, strawberries, carrots, and these little pear pastry desserts that Hanna concocted. I introduced Hanna to the greatness that is Green Goddess dressing. She had never had it before! Shame.

Originally, we sat under under the Simba tree. We called it that because it reminded us of The Lion King. However, we were chased away from the shade of that tree because of ants. We found a nicer tree with an even cooler breeze.

The Simba Tree!

After eating, we walked around the park and watched little kids play in the fountains. It was pleasant because were soaked our feet in the water too. After that, we climbed this giant hill that had a great view of downtown and the rest of the park.

While driving through downtown with the windows down, the feeling of summer finally hit me. It really felt nice. The warm breeze and being with great friends was so nice. In order to top off the afternoon, we got some Jim Jim's Water Ice. It is this marvelous shaved ice -- basically like a miracle in a cup. So tasty, cold, and refreshing.
Great friends, great food, and great memories. Summer 2009 has arrived.

Mmmmm...water ice sounds very yummy... the lemon or mango-berry are the most appealing to me!
I am treating when we go down to see you!
