Republican Demise.
Although the past 8 years have been miserable for all Americans, the past 2-3 years have not been much better for Republicans in specific. Today, Senate Minority Leader Republican Mitch McConnell echoed what I've been saying about the GOP for a while now. The party no longer represents the large portion of the country it once did. McConnell acknowledged the fact that "the very wealthy and the very poor, the most and least educated, and a majority of minority voters" have completely abandoned the Republicans Party. He went on to say that the party faces the threat of "slipping into the position of being more of a regional party than a national one." I really think this is true. They offer no valuable or progressive ideas, no leadership, no proper governance, no cooperation, no commonsense, and no understanding of how the rest of Americans and the world lives. As my friend put it, the party his allied itself so tightly with fundamentalist Evangelicals that they've given up control of the reins to this social group. All of these reasons are why Obama pummeled and trounced McCain-Palin in the general. I suppose it makes me feel better to have my own thoughts on the party vindicated by one of its leading members.
